Police arrest Mt. Rose area home burglar
RENO - On Wednesday, Washoe County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a burglary at a home on the Mt. Rose highway, finding the home ransacked and more than $50,000 in property stolen. It also appeared to deputies that the suspects may have had plans to return and steal more items.
After setting up surveillance on the property, deputies watched as the suspects returned at about 1 p.m. onThursday. They were observed moving items from the property.
Sheriff’s Office Patrol Units and K-9 teams where called in to assist. Due to the extended distance between the Mt. Rose Highway and the residence, the suspects where able to flee on foot down the back side of Mount Rose.
A Sheriff Patrol unit located one suspect hiding in the Galena Creek Park area. Richard Douglas Kaylor, 69 years old, a resident of Reno was taken into custody without incident.
The second suspect is believed to be Charles Jacob Steele, 32 years old. He escaped capture and is being sought for questioning.
